怪獸機 ASUS RT-N16 挾帶其強大的硬體規格優勢，搶攻家用無線路由器重度用戶市場，加上知名第三方韌體 DD-WRT 也為 RT-N16 操刀編寫替代官方版本韌體，眾多賣點加持，也讓售價高居同類型產品排行榜首位的情況下，依然熱賣。



近期 ASUS 有意加碼推出 RT-N12 去吸納進階級市場，有別於 RT-N16 採用 BCM4718 晶片，RT-N12 採用的是同系列的晶片 BCM4716，時脈 300Mhz，4M FLASH 及 32MB DDR RAM，無線網路方面採用802.11N 2T2R 的設計，可支援300Mbs傳輸速度，連線數可達 30,000 條，這樣的硬體規格已足以滿足大多數家庭用戶族群。



相較之下，RT-N12 比 RT-N16 少了 USB 界面，而 LAN port 也僅支援至 100Mbps 規格，並未採用 Giga bit 規格，因此未來售價應該不至於太過"高貴"。




RT-N16 雖然市場上銷售已經一段時間了，消費者對其評價似乎並未一面倒，不論其評價如何，已為市場潛在性改機及重度用戶族群，開創一片天地。而今擁有相同血脈的 RT-N12 是否有效拉攏進階級市場的興趣，尚待觀察。而本篇發表同時，DD-WRT 也已經率先推出 RT-N12 版專用韌體，對未來上市後應可再造一波熱潮。
